Meetings for Nordic Regional BGD Centre
Category : News
A series of meetings relating to the development of a Nordic Regional Blue Green Dream Centre are being held from the 18th to the 20th of April at Imperial College London and University of Reading. Rebecka Segerstrom and Cecilia Kalin from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm have come to the United Kingdom to learn more about the Blue Green Dream project as they begin the process of setting up a Blue Green regional centre in Stockholm.
In addition to the existing Blue Green Dream Centres set up in London, Berlin, Paris and Rotterdam, the BGD project is working to set up a series of regional centres across Europe. These include in Lodz, Belgrade, Athens, Stockholm and Bologna.
Frans van de Ven gave a presentation at the 2013 European Climate Change Adaptation Conference in Hamburg on Tuesday 19th of March on research undertaken by Deltares relating to evapotranspiration and reducing the urban heat island effect. Frans referred to the Blue Green Dream project as he summarised the findings of this research, which shows that the shade of trees provides more cooling than the shade of buildings, by up to 3 degrees Celsius. This supports the ongoing work of the BGD project.
